The Impact of Great Teachers

My most recent speaking program was pretty exciting! Not only was it the debut of my "So What?" program co-created with Vivien Price, but it took place at the University of Utah. I went to the U, my dad, sister, and two daughters are also Utes. To top it off, I was working with an incredible group of people from the AAEP.

But after I finished setting up for my program, a surprise encounter stole the show for me. I noticed that there, on the wall, hung a portrait of Dr. J.D. Williams, a revered professor and prominent figure in Utah’s political landscape. Years ago, I had the privilege of taking his elective Political Science class. A lot of time may have passed, but I still vividly recall his intense enthusiasm for the founding fathers and his captivating storytelling. As I gazed at his portrait, I felt like I could hear him saying to me: "Are you going to bring the passion today, Mr. Musig?"

After the program, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude for the educators who have left an indelible mark on my life. It's moments like this that remind me of the transformative power of education beyond textbooks – instilling in students invaluable tools like critical thinking, problem-solving, and passion. To all the educators who sacrifice and spark a fire for learning, I offer my heartfelt thanks. Your impact is immeasurable as you shape lives, one lesson and one student at a time.
